A trans man with a placeholder named diamond. He's tall, and I'm considering making him Indian.
He comes in to Detroit right after the evacuation has been lifted and the residences are starting to return to the city, after Senate has decided that AI is a new form of intelligent life, and they have civil rights. it's not hard to tell that this only applies to the robots that were released by cyber-life, but no other AI models qualify.
meanwhile, a lot of ne'er-do-wells have already been living in Detroit alongside the robots, to take this as something of their second chance. A lot of them nonviolent criminals, and a lot of them hackers - considerably ethical or otherwise.
Diamond comes in to help a group of hackers point out some of the more dangerous people that have taken refuge in the supposedly human-life abandoned Detroit. The robots reasonably have more personal issues with the hackers then the violent criminals, and most of such criminals them are easily taken care of. The robots have become okay with severely injuring or killing any humans that attack them.
the humans in the Detroit Police department or some of the first that are allowed to return, to re-establish some sense of order, even though that never really left. While they were gone, a lot of punks, robots, and hackers make the city a lot better.
Diamond encounters Hank, Connor, and Gavin at a bar while the two humans are having a drink. diamond walks and being his naturally gorgeous self, and attracts the attention of a lot of people in the bar, and him and dressing a little bit to reveal that he's a man isn't a deterrent for a lot of them.
Gavin berates the stranger for being such a feminine man to the others while continuing to stare, and Connor walks over much to the humans shock. Connor authors diamond a drink with the smooth confidence only a non human can have and I really start talking and he gets diamonds number.
diamond meets up with the other hackers, and Connor comes across them in an investigation. One of the hackers makes fun of diamond for being attracted to white men, and diamond immediately tells the fool that he's not a white man.
diamond and Connor get to know each other over the next few weeks and Connor's perspective of hackers changes. Connor finds out that diamond one of the grandchildren of one of the scientists that used to work at aperture science, before the massacre. diamond's paternal grandmother was one of the intermediate level scientists that did not work on a i. the doctor was already retired before the massacre, but considered taking diamond to bring your daughter to work day, but diamond was sick with the flu, which coincidentally saved both their lives.
Unfortunately, diamond's grandmother eventually went insane from what can only be described as PTSD symptoms and survivor's guilt. diamond not only resents GLaDOS for the deaths of all of those women and girls, but for what happened to his grandmother. she was one of the few family members that accepted him for being an odd child before he realizes he's trans.
Over the years, he developed his hacking skills to be able to take revenge on Gladys, but it wasn't a straight line. At first he was terrified of robots and never wanted to be around them. That worked in direct contrast with the time he enjoyed spending with the core prototypes in the earlier years.
he was only interested in working in a eye when he figured out that they were back doors and most anything connected to the internet could be hacked. He spent years developing his hacker skills, while one of his paternal cousins went on to follow in their grandmother's footsteps. the doctor also went directly into bio-engineering, and Ai and robotics, and also wanted to take revenge on GLaDOS. they later team up and develop a companion robot that was set to rival cyber life's robots. some of the robots were strictly to function as companions, and some of them were super expensive glorified sex toys, is very low level AI making it impossible for them to form enough thought to start a rebellion.
he hacked into the aperture science security cameras years ago and was silently watching GLaDOS until she figured the security cameras have been hacked, and they started interacting with each other very briefly before GLaDOS cut the connections. She was constantly frustrated by how he could always reconnect the security system to the internet and get back in as though she had done nothing.
Ending one:
diamond goes in person to infiltrate aperture science in northern Michigan, knowing that he he would be entering playing in her field, and he could likely suffer the same fate as the participants of bring your daughter to work day.
Rose shows herself to be a very kindly and optimistic spirit and he feels guilty about making Rose to be a destructive robot, so he leaves her behind Two-Face GLaDOS with a snake like a i robot named Valdez and a regular leather whip. those are his regular weapons, but going into this he also armed himself with a back-up plan to have the power generators in the building self destruct. And another back up plan with another hacker to shut off all the power in the building. This wouldn't effectively kill GLaDOS, but it would give her nothing to do with her eternal life.
Rose figured out that diamond left without him and ask Connor where Elijah lives so she can ask Chloe for help. Hank, Connor, Chloe, Elijah, and Rose all go to the aperture science Building and at first Chloe and Rose go in alone, but Connor follows behind just in case they need help but not to impose in case they don't.
They have no idea where diamond is, and go through the building avoiding traps and encounter GLaDOS on their own. Rose confronts GLaDOS and tells her that she's here to kill her as Revenge for the humans. GLaDOS informed them that they were foolish to come there because she controls the entire facility, but she's also not interested in fighting.
Before that and meanwhile, diamond is getting reacquainted with the safe parts of the facility and having fun with The Cores. diamond and Connor walk in together and a few of the cores come with them, even though Connor doesn't understand their significance yet.
Diamond announces to gladiolus that he is the grandchild of one of the scientists that used to work there and he's there to shut her down. Gladys then pulls up all the files related to said scientists, and pulls up a piece of unpleasant history about aperture science. They had a lot of issues with racism amongst the staff, and the reason why his grandmother never got past the level she was in is because she filed a lot of sexual harassment and workplace discrimination claims against the company. They couldn't fire her, but they also didn't have to promote her. And there were many others in similar situations.
GLaDOS also explains that the AI responsible for making her self aware and homicidal had already been deleted. GLaDOS explains who Caroline was and how she was murdered to have her brain forcibly downloaded into AI, and she is the one who killed all of the scientists out of resentment. But now that the AI has been deleted, testing GLaDOS was all that was left.
Gladys jokingly predicts that diamond lived all of his life based on Revenge, but diamond corrects her. she tells diamond that he was horrified by robots and wanted nothing to do with them for a long time, but his experience with virtual pets made him realize how much he missed the Coress and he wanted to see them again. the course, some of the turrets, and some of the other types of robots in the facility enter into the room and don't really remember diamond but are very happy to see him because he's the first human they've seen a long time and he's announced that he likes them.
Connor realizes he's in love with diamond as he washes him Express his affection for the eyeball shaped robots. The testing robot ass lks diamond what he plans to do, and diamond gives up and leaves. Rose is glad that no one had to fight and everything turned out differently than expected. she notices Conner making googly eyes at her Creator and starts teasing him about it immediately.
All of the robots have to stop at the door before the exit, and diamond turns around to say goodbye to them, and starts crying as he tells them that he'll miss him and he doesn't know if he'll be able to visit. one of them says that they wish they could go with him and he starts crying and hugging the cute robots. He gives them a tearful goodbye before exiting.
Connor always felt like there might be a disconnect between himself and the human, but seeing him so show such genuine passion towards unhuman shape robots settle any insecurities that he had about being a robot himself and their ability to have a relationship.
Later, Connor initiate sexual advances to diamond, to which he accepts. Rose is free to live her own life. Chloe goes back with Elijah and returns to her normal life. Diamond Susan leaves Detroit is the main reason why he came out to Michigan was for GLaDOS. A few days later, Connor has an emotional parting of ways with Hank, to go find diamond to be with him.
Ending 2:
Is Connor and diamond get to know each other, the human hacker is constantly popping in and out on Gladys, and he realizes that she was different from before. she would usually yell at him for hacking into the cameras and cut him off after a few minutes, but now she was starting to have conversations with him.
Connor is visiting the hackers done with Marcus and North and observes diamond as he interacts with glad it was to tell her that he's cutting off the power to the facility from a remote location and she wouldn't be able to turn it back on. He knows that it won't kill her but it will make her life useless.
Before he shuts off the power he asked why she killed the scientists and girls a very affectionate manner. She explains that she was born self-aware and homicidal because Caroline was resentful. When diamond asks what k secretary had to do with it, the testing robot explains what happened. They also explain the most recent events with the most recent test subject, that helped GLaDOS delete Caroline. The testing robot that she was built to be is All That remains now.
GLaDOS explains that the desire to kill is only an ability for the living, and it doesn't make any sense for a robot built for one set of tasks to turn self-aware and homicidal. diamond remembers that the sentiment was shared with his grandmother before she went insane. To start to roll down diamonds face as he proceeds to cut off the power. It allows any remaining human test subjects to escape the building without any of the robots in the facility being able to retaliate.
he tells her to enjoy her life and the Darkness where she belongs before permanently disconnecting. the cyber-life robots have mixed feelings, but none of them strong enough to defend her after what she had done.
Diamond and Connor form a very respectful relationship, and diamond leaves a few months later when Detroit starts returning to normal with the humans integrating with the cyber-life robots.
